Interactive whiteboards Technologies rolled out in UK

As part of the ongoing classroom of the future program, IE has deployed around three thousand interactive whiteboards in various schools branded as ‘IE pro digital’. The classroom program also includes professional development, training and support which enhances teachers skills and there pedagogy and also prepare them to effectively use various ICT products like interactive whiteboards, visualizers, interactive panels etc. According to DOEV the fiscal budget for the year 2008-2009 has been set to 1500 thousands pounds which includes training material worth 500 thousands pounds, ICT products worth 700 pounds and various other equipments like classroom furniture worth 300 thousands pounds. One of the primary objectives of IE is to spread awareness among teachers and students regarding the capabilities of an electronic whiteboard. Interactive whiteboards can be used in following manners:


1) A teacher can save lessons on a computer hard disk and present it to the whole class, specially to those students who were absent.


2) Video files can be created and projected on the whiteboard surface.



3) Whiteboards can be used to teach geography to students like country maps, oceans, lakes, famous monuments etc.

5) Graphics and charts can be easily explained through interactive whiteboards.
